FUNDACION DEL MURALISMO MEXICANO
TEXTOS INÉDITOS DE DAVID ALFARO SIQUEIROS
ALFARO SIQUEIROS, DAVID
The present edition comprises three original manuscripts, never published before presently held in the section of "Special Collections" of the library of the Getty Research Institute. The texts were written in the 1930's by noted muralist artist David Alfaro Siqueiros and their main subject is the initial years of the Mexican muralist movement and in particular the aesthetic-political vision that Siqueiros had in this matter. The present book offers a testimonial and direct judgment of the aesthetic revolution happening in Mexico when intellectual and philosopher José Vasconcelos invited several artist to paint the interior walls of the colonial building housing the Ministry of Education, as well as the details on the history of Siqueiro's ideological [Marxist] battle, his criticism to the early muralism and the leadership position he had in the muralist movement.
